Update: Received the game on Saturday via Gamefly, played it for a few hours, and now its packaged to mail out on Monday. Huge letdown for me. I guess whereas I was impressed with the first entry to the series 6-8 years ago, the game was a lot more annoying than expected. Way of the Samurai 3 is very much worth the 5-6 out 10 ratings it's received from reviews.

That's too bad, I'm sorry to hear that. Between the compromise of battle mechanics from 1 and 2 and the absurd amount of endings, I thought it was another great addition to the series. Out of curiosity, what was it that annoyed you so much? 40 Ryujin- SS 40 Kata- Archery/Gadget/TK 40 Okubo- DS/Sorcery 40 Izanami- Darkness |

Well I really didnt like that, after receiving little to no exposition of just what the hell I was doing in the village, that my first quest was to hunt down some old woman's underwear. The novelty of sandbox games has sort of lost it's appeal to me and while I still dig the "choose your own adventure" aspect of the game, I didn't care long enough to want to stick around. Maybe I've been spoiled by Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2.

Haha, yeah, I guess that's the problem with games that don't explicitly have a single, main path from point a to point b; navigating is a tad harder. As an aside, those missions are similar to the ones in the 2nd game, in so much as they are meant as a source of income and a way to raise relations with the locals outside of story progression as opposed to being an integral part of the story. Besides that, it plays strikingly similar to the first one. As a devoted-yet-struggling-to-not-be-overbearing fan of the series, I recommend you give it another chance and at least play through an ending before you cast it off. I won't lie, it's not a game everyone can enjoy. I won't be too offended if you end up still never wanting to see it again, but it'd be tragic if you would've ended up enjoying it had you played it again. 40 Ryujin- SS 40 Kata- Archery/Gadget/TK 40 Okubo- DS/Sorcery 40 Izanami- Darkness |

I enjoyed the game and played through probably 10 times or more. What disappointed me about it was that you couldn't break down weapons to craft with and instead had to find pieces. That and the crappy unlockable outfits. Yeah I really want to be running around in some tinfoil 'future samurai' armor with neon lights... There were only two of the unlocked outfits I ever used, that being the white and the black Hakama. Game play wise I thought it lived up to the series, and I enjoyed unlocking the special techniques for the different sword styles.
